Wall stickers are one of the quickest ways to turn a plain nursery or playroom into something special, and one of the easiest to change as your child grows. Here is how to put them up, move them and take them down again.

Before you start

  • Check the wall. Stickers hold best on smooth, clean, dry, painted walls. Heavily textured surfaces are not recommended.
  • Let new paint cure. If you have just decorated, give the paint time to cure fully before applying stickers.
  • Wipe it down. Dust and grease stop stickers from holding. A wipe with a dry or slightly damp cloth is enough; let the wall dry.
  • Plan the layout. Lay the pieces out on the floor first, or hold them lightly against the wall, before you commit.

How to apply wall stickers

  1. Start with the largest pieces, such as trees or the biggest animals, and build the scene around them.
  2. Peel a sticker slowly from its backing sheet.
  3. Place the top edge on the wall first, then smooth downwards and outwards with your hand to push out any air.
  4. Step back and check. If it is not quite right, peel it back gently and reposition it.
  5. Add the smaller pieces last to fill gaps and balance the scene.

Can you reposition them?

Yes. Our wall stickers are repositionable, so you can lift and move them while you plan the layout. Peel slowly from one corner and keep the sticker from folding back onto itself.

How to remove wall stickers

  1. Lift one corner with a fingernail.
  2. Peel back slowly, keeping the sticker close to the wall rather than pulling it straight out.
  3. If a sticker has been up for a long time and feels stubborn, warm it for a few seconds with a hairdryer on a low setting to soften the adhesive.
